19 July 2002 Aboard the Picadilly Line to Earl's Court to transfer to the District, I encountered an American family on vacation. She was wearing a black tanktop and flowered pants, abstractions of flowers in earthy greens. He was wearing white shorts with a shirt that was eerily similar to his wife's pants, though with a bit more color in the flowers, a bit less abstraction. He wore loafers with no socks and carried a camera slung over his shoulder. Their daughter wore an upturned nose, a purple top and a denim skirt. With zippers. Not wanting to be rude, I resisted the urge to point my camera at them, and managed only to catch my arm as they left the train at Gloucester Road.
Seated: a dad sporting a crew-cut mohawk, and his son.
